Three South Jetty staffers have won awards in the National Newspaper Association's newspaper and advertising contests.

Reporter Dan Parker took first place for Best Breaking News Story in the non-daily division for newspapers with circulations of 3,000 to 5,999. His winning story was about a ride-along with Port Aransas police during Spring Break 2011.

Advertising graphic artists Elizabeth Weaver and Judy K. Krantz shared third place for Best Series Ad Idea - Color in the daily and non-daily division for newspapers with circulations less than 10,000. The winning ad series was for Zarsky Lumber in Port Aransas.
